Melissa Johnson, Principal

I am honored and excited to be named Interim Principal of North Grafton Elementary School. With over 25+ years experience as an early childhood educator, I began my journey in Grafton as the Preschool Coordinator and TEAM chair, as well as the ESY Coordinator. Prior to coming to Grafton, I was an integrated preschool teacher for over 17 years within the Shrewsbury Public Schools.

Early Childhood education is a passion of mine and, as Maria Montessori said “The goal of early childhood education should be to activate the child’s own desire to learn.” Throughout my career, I have strived to ensure that our youngest students are immersed in learning that is purposeful and engaging. I have also prioritized building meaningful relationships with students, staff, and families since I believe strongly that collaboration and trust are the foundation of a positive school culture. From that,  students feel safe, supported, and excited to come to school each day.  I am committed to helping our “Rookery” continue to grow and thrive.
